Child's Water Hose Trick
The neighbor's child wants to hit you with a forbidden squirt of your own water hose.
If you're out watering watch out for the lure of the tricksters as they spy you from the other side of the fence. Listen for their pattering feet as they parade cross their backyard or front if there is a dividing fence and call to you at first in a meek tiny voice and then in a raised escalating cry.
"Hey" comes in the fleeting call. "Hey" it returns. "Hey..." there it goes in a dragging lengthy following buzzing plead.
The voice rushes to keep up with your pace of watering, running past if need be to be in the front for a visible sideline approach standing on the fence to hoot amp; holler any available second. If you pretend not to hear they'll keep going till they attract your attention.
"Hey, can I help you water? If you'll let me hold the water hose I can water from over here."
If you politely say, "No thank you I'm almost done" they might tell you, "I can come in your yard and water for you."
If you don't want them to come in your yard for fear of flower or garden trampling you may be tempted to say, "Wait, I'm coming with the water hose."
So you carefully walk over the flowers amp; plants to hand them the hose. They reach over the fence they are standing on and take the hose but they don't turn the hose on plants like they said they wanted to do instead they turn the hose on you. Spraying amp; squirting you until you get drenched and manage to take control back of the hose, which could only be done after they squealed in laughter and dropped the hose running.
The main objective of the child's water hose trick is to obtain control of the hose so they can squirt you. The child wants to water your grass or flowers and asks to see the hose from their side of the fence so they can squirt you.
While it may be a joke to them its not quite so funny when you're the bunt of the joke. So put on your swimsuits so you won't ruin any good clothing, prepare yourself amp; watch out all you watering hounds or you could find yourself with a face pelted by water.
