Sloggers Garden Clogs Review
A garden clog, made of one piece rubber, completely water proof.
Working in the garden means I am subject to a variety of conditons, dirt and mud being foremost on the list! I have ruined tennis shoes by wearing them to weed or water my garden, so from now on all I will wear are solid rubber clogs, and Sloggers makes a fine inexpensive version.
Sloggers also makes garden boots, but on a hot day these simply are too uncomfortable to wear as my feet will sweat and I'll be miserable. The low end version of garden clogs that Sloggers makes are called their Classic Garden Clog. I have seen these in the garden sections of many grocery stores, so if you are looking for them they should not be hard to find.
Sloggers Classic Garden Clogs come in four classic colors: red, green, blue and yellow. I like the blue since this goes well with a pair of blue jeans. They are available in whole sizes 6-10, and are pretty true in size. If you wear a half size, I would suggest ordering the next half size up, you can always wear a pair of socks in them if they are a bit loose, but if they are too small you will be stuck!
These look like a classic pair of slip on clogs, except they are made completely of rubber. There isn't much of an arch inside of these, so if you need a shoe with an arch, keep looking as there are more expensive garden clogs that do provide this feature. I appreciate an arch, but when I am just working for an hour or two at a time in the garden, it is not necessary.
The Sloggers are quite comfortable because they are so lightweight, they remind me of other styles of plastic clogs that people wear for every day shoes. The rubber is also extremely flexible, so when I am bending over, resting on my haunches, or working from my knees, these bend with me and make working in these sometimes awkward positions more comfortable.
What do I like the best about Sloggers? That's easy! I like how easy they are to care for! If you have ever muddied up a pair of shoes, you know how hard they are to get clean, and they never seem to fit the same afterwards. With the Sloggers, I simply lay them on the grass and take a garden hose to them! How much easier can it get? And the rubber material dries very quickly on a hot day. These are no fuss garden shoes! I love them.
The Sloggers Classic Garden Clogs retail for just under $20, but are often on sale for much less. If you like to garden but hate the mess, you owe it to yourself to get a pair of Sloggers!
