Chris Cornell & Il Divo Added to Borgata Concert Schedule
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City adds Chris Cornell & Il Divo.
Chris Cornell is a Grammy Award Winning musician who helped to take rock and roll in a totally new direction in the early 1990's with other bands like Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, and Mother Love Bone. The so called "Seattle Sound" is one that Cornell is closely associated with. However rather than get pigeonholed into one box, Cornell has gone on to do an amazing amount of solo work beyond the grunge movement.
His plaintive voice is often regarded as one of the best in all of the music industry and his sound spans more than two decades from his earliest work with Soundgarden to his more recent work with Audioslave. Some of Chris Cornell's most memorable work has been his solo pieces that he's composed for film soundtracks. "Great Expectations," Mission Impossible II," and "Casino Royale," are all excellent showings; however ask any real fan of Cornell and they'll point to "Seasons" from the Singles film soundtrack as one of the earliest validations of Chris Cornell's excellent solo styling.
Chris Cornell's show will take place Friday, April 3 at 9PM at the Borgata.
For something totally different; Il Divo also has been added to the lineup of shows at Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel, Casino, and Spa. "Four of the greatest voices in the world, David Miller, Carlos Marín, Urs Buhler amp; Sébastien Izambard will bring the sound of opera," a little bit later on in the Borgata's summer season. The Il Divo show at Borgata will be happening on July 3.
According to the Borgata press release, this Il Divo show is going to be something else. "With over 22 million albums sold to date, Il Divo's new show in support of their fifth album The Promise will be staged and choreographed by William Baker." Baker has worked with such talented artists as Jamiroquai and Kylie.
For folks who want to pull it up on YouTube to hear what Il Divo is all about, they recently played a very excellent prelude concert in Washington DC. "Il Divo performed at the Inaugural Purple Ball honoring our new President Barack Obama," and they are thrilled to be coming to Atlantic City and the Borgata.
