Simple to Make Decorative Yard Flowers

Things You'll Need:
Plastic bottles
Ruler
Scissors
Permanent marker
Paper punch
Newspaper
Wax paper
Spray paint for plastic
Thin jute or hemp
Plastic beads with ¼-inch hole
12- t0 18-inch long ¼-inch dowels
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Instructions:
Step 1 - Cut the plastic bottle into strips 1-inch wide and to 8-inches in length. A minimum of seven strips is needed for each flower. Add additional strips and lengths of strips to create the look of a thicker 3-dimensional flower.
Step 2 - Cut a 1 ½-inch circle from the plastic for each flower.
Step 3 - Cut a length of thin jute or hemp 8inches long. Set aside.
Step 4 - Cut the ends of the strips using two 45 degree angles to create a point.
Step 5 - Cover a flat work surface with newspaper. Spread a sheet of wax paper in the center of the newspaper long enough to accommodate the plastic strips and plastic button. Place the plastic strips and button on the wax paper.
Step 6 - Spray paint the plastic strips the desired color. Allow the paint to dry. Flip the strips and button over. Repeat the painting process. Allow the paint to dry 15 minutes before continuing.
Step 7 - Paper punch a hole approximately ½-inch from the point on each end of the strip. Punch two holes in the center of the 1 ½-inch circle directly across from one another to create a button.
Step 8 - Match and fold the ends of one strip together. Hold on to the tip with the hole. Repeat the process with the remaining 6-strips making sure the holes on the points match up with one another. Spread the seven strips apart to form the head of the flower.
Step 9 - Center the plastic button on the front of the flower. Place the hole on the flower petals between the two holes in the button.
Step 10 - Insert one end of the jute through the hole on the back of the plastic flower and one hole on the button. Slide the button over to reveal the hole through the second opening in the button. Insert the opposite end of the thin jute or hemp through the back of the flower and the second opening on the button. Secure the button to the flower with a double knot. Tie a bow to finish.
Step 11- Slide a bead over the end of a ¼-inch piece of dowel. Hot glue into place.
Step 12 - Turn the flower over and squeeze a dot of hot glue on the center of the thin jute or hemp. Immediately push the dot of glue onto the front of the plastic bead.
Add additional color to the flower by painting the ¼-inch dowel prior to attaching the plastic bead and flower.
